What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is a natural, non-invasive way to teach the brain self-regulation, showing the nervous system how to be stronger, more stable, and calmer.
Neurofeedback is the direct training of brain function, by which the brain learns to work more efficiently. This process allows the brain to see its own behavior which, in turn, helps the brain learn to self-regulate. We observe the brain in action from moment to moment and show that information back to you, encouraging the brain to change its own activity. This is a gradual learning process and it applies to many aspects of brain function.
This fun and rewarding experience strengthens the brain and, in so doing, helps the brain adapt to changes in your life, allowing you to become more productive in both your work life, relationships, and leisure time activities.
Dr. Phillips uses the Othmer Method of Neurofeedback training with infra-low frequencies.
There are many methods of neurofeedback training. The Othmer Method is a very powerful tool and requires supervision by a trained professional. Training is individualized for each client. You will be attended to by Dr. Phillips throughout the training process.
Everyone has things that get in the way of physical, behavioral and emotional happiness or functionality. Neurofeedback can reduce the necessity for medications and reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, migraines, sleep issues, immune disorders and chronic pain. Treatment is fun and is tailored to the individual no matter what their needs.
We are not fixing the brain. We are allowing it to fix itself.
We also like to address your life as a whole and include topics such as diet and exercise in combination with neurofeedback and psychotherapy.
About
Judy Phillips has been interested in exploring the positive effects of neurofeedback since 1995 when it changed her life both personally and professionally. Since then, she has been using her post-doctoral knowledge in Cognitive Therapy, Family Therapy, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and Co-dependency training , along with Neurofeedback , to bring solace and hope to the lives of her clients. Many of her clients have been to many other types of doctors before they come to see her. They often find that Neurofeedback can help in ways that other therapies and drug treatments have not. She uses psychotherapy in conjunction with Neurofeedback to best help and understand her clients.
Judy has been a licensed psychologist since 1974. She is a certified, neurofeedback provider through the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America (BCIA) and is also a BCIA fellow.
She believes that everyone’s brain works differently, and that neurofeedback can help people function at their optimum. While there are no “defects” in brain functioning, there are things that can be done to make the brain calmer, better regulated, and more focused. Judy works with all ages and a wide variety of issues. She has found that neurofeedback can help improve one’s life regardless of why they come to see her.
She welcomes new clients with a fresh set of eyes and tailors her services to best meet the needs of the individual.
She has been licensed as a psychologist in New York, New Jersey, and California.
“Neurofeedback is like having a personal trainer for your brain, making it strong and resilient. I want you to be happy and accomplish the things that matter to you.”
